The oldest city in Portugal – also known as Bracara Augusta – stands out for its importance during the Roman Empire and later in the Middle Ages, having won the title of Portuguese Rome. Its historic center concentrates countless reasons to be visited.

The best? The best part is that Moon & Sun Braga is located right in the historic center, within walking distance of the city's main attractions.

Basílica dos Congregados

Built in the 18th century, the Basilica dos Congregados has a Baroque style. Inside, you can admire granite statues representing Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and David, while the chancel stands out for its rococo style, characteristic of the city of Braga.

Arcada da Lapa

Arcada da Lapa, built in 1715, is located where part of the city's castle wall used to be. Located specifically in Praça da República, the arcade was once used by city merchants to sell their products under cover. Currently, you will find two of the most historic cafés in Braga on site – Café Vianna, opened in 1871, and Café Astória, which opened its doors in 1928.

Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco

Located at the back of Arcada da Lapa, this church, which you can admire through the windows of the Moon & Sun Braga, deserves a visit to admire its beautiful tile panels.

Torre de Menagem do Castelo de Braga

About 30 meters high, the keep is the only structure that remains from the castle of Braga, destroyed in 1906.

Jardim de Santa Bárbara

Undoubtedly, one of the places not to be missed during your visit to Braga. In the center of the garden, you can admire a 17th-century fountain with a statue of Santa Bárbara. Opposite is the Archbishop's Palace built between the 14th and 15th centuries and, to your left, the back of the Rectory of the University of Minho and the beautiful Largo do Paço.

Museu dos Biscainhos

Created in 1978, the Museu dos Biscainhos is installed in the palace with the same name. This emblematic space presents to its public several spaces that represent the daily life of the Portuguese nobility between the 17th and 19th centuries.

Theatro Circo

Considered one of the most beautiful theaters in Portugal and Europe, it is a space that you cannot miss. There is the possibility of discovering all its charms through a guided tour that allows, in addition to being able to admire the magnificent main concert hall, also to have access to its backstage – stage, rehearsal area, dressing rooms, and much more.
